UPDATE: May 29, 2018 – Unfortunately, Houston Rockets fan’s hopes and dreams for a 2018 NBA Finals chance ended last night with loss to Golden State Warriors. NBA Playoffs Finals begin on Thursday night May 31st, with the Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers…meeting again for the FOURTH straight year…
Outside Houston Rockets home court in Downtown Houston, the Toyota Center before NBA West Finals Game 7. Hoping for the best tonight, May 28th and a Houston trip to 2018 NBA finals vs Cleveland.
Houston’s GRB Convention Center
Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center has about 1.8 million square feet of flexible meeting space in meeting rooms, ballrooms and exhibit halls. Make sure to wear your comfortable shoes as this place is huge.

Downtown’s Discovery Green, GRB Center, Marriott Marquis
Discovery Green is Houston’s premiere Downtown ‘Central’ Park. The George R. Brown Convention Center and the Marriott Marquis are within a short walking distance from each other, and many downtown destinations.

Four Seasons Hotel from Dallas St. Parking Lot
I found the ‘cheap’ parking for $7 for the day along Dallas Street right across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel Houston. I use BESTPARKING Houston and PARKOPEDIA Houston websites to find parking when Downtown.
Worked two long days as A2 for PSAV for an Energy Financial & Accounting event in the Ballroom with two screens, podium mike, 2 hand held wireless mics, and 11 wireless lav mics.
The Four Seasons Ballroom is set and ready to go !
Working Downtown at Houston’s Hilton Americas
Was thankful for PSAV Presentation Services work at the Hilton Americas setting up A/V & projection for a large convention last week. It was another beautiful clear dry Houston spring day.
The Hilton is located at 1600 Lamar Street, right next to downtown’s Discovery Green park and the George R. Brown Convention Center. It’s just a stones throw from the Toyota Center [NBA Rockets Home] and Minute Maid Park [MLB Astros Home]. And just across the freeway is BBVA Compass Stadium [MLS Dynamo Home]. It’s all right in the midst of the revitalized convention district of Houston.
So, Get outside and enjoy these days before the heat and humidity soon come !

SAY WHAT ? – ASTROS in 1st Place in MLB AL WEST !
UPDATE: October 27, 2017
CONGRATULATIONS to 2017 MLB AL West Champions Houston Astros
NOW FACING LA Dodgers in 2017 MLB World Series
- from August 30, 2015 – With 162 games in a LONG regular season, I’m not much of a baseball fan until it really counts, in October….finally playoff time. So I had to double check when I saw this. But the Houston Astros are presently 72-58, good enough for 1st in the AL Western Division. They have the most wins in a season since 2010 and still have about 30 games left to play !
Wondered how this could be ? Found this very interesting article in USA Today: “Overshifting a huge part of first-place Astros’ success”.
Apparently a key reason is by using a complex statistical model as a guide for their innovative and aggressive defensive shifting on the field. The Astros lead all of baseball with 587 overshifts according to Baseball Info Solutions data . This has helped them become one of the better defensive teams in MLB.
Always loved that retractable roof at Astros ball field Minute Maid Park. (AKA The Ballpark at Union Station, Enron Field, and Astros Field)
