Rainy Day at Main & Preston

Another rainy day in Houston at Main Street & Preston. METRORail Red Line runs along Main in the Historic part of Downtown Houston. The tall building in background is the Hotel Icon originally built in 1911 as the Union National Bank Building, one of the state’s most prominent financial institutions at the time.

Downtown’s Rice Lofts

The Rice Lofts, formerly The Post Rice Lofts, at 909 Texas Avenue & Main are in the heart of downtown Houston, and are the result of the renovation of the historic Rice Hotel.

President John F. Kennedy stayed briefly here on his final visit to Houston on Thursday, November 21, 1963. Houston Public Media has the story here:
